This unique WildYoga Immersion and Advanced Studies Program integrates a focus on asana practice, meditation, pranayama, Ayurveda, yoga philosophy, and anatomy with the opportunity for deep connection to the natural world. Offered in the stunning, sacred landscapes in and around Yosemite National Park, this program invites us to deepen our understanding of yoga and ecology.
This 300-hour program expands on Balanced Rock’s 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training by deepening our relationship to the five elements and their expression in our yoga practice and instruction. The full 300-hour program includes seven weekends, and two longer components:
October 6-8, 2017 | Earth Element: Setting the Foundations
November 3-5, 2017 | Water Element: Breathing into the Flow
December 1-3, 2017 | Fire Element: Igniting the Core
January 5-7, 2018 | Air Element: Opening the Heart
February 2-4, 2018 | Space Element: Stepping into Sacred Sound
March 1-4, 2018 | Yoga and Ayurveda 4-day Intensive
April 6-8, 2018 | Yoga, Ecology, Grief and Healing Intensive
May 4-6, 2018 | Assisting, Adjustments, Anatomy, Support
June 22-28, 2018 | WildYoga Wilderness Backpack
Each weekend or segment is designed to stand alone, or the entire course can be taken to receive 300 hours of continuing education units as certified by Yoga Alliance.
This 300-hour program can be combined with another Yoga Alliance-Certified 200-hour RYT for a 500-hour designation.
A key aspect that differentiates WildYoga is the deep integration of the natural world with our yoga practice. The uniqueness of these teachings is not only doing yoga in a beautiful outdoor location, it is doing our practice with the wild world, integrating the flow of the Merced River, or the stability of El Capitan’s granite into our experience. Indeed the wild world will be much more than a backdrop to our journey, it will be a living part of our practice. We will also integrate connection with the natural world during our indoor sessions so you can practice and teach in any environment.
Our talented core group of teachers will be joined by special guests to create a unique and powerful training.
Each training is authentic and tempered to the needs of the students. Tuition assistance is available for this and all multi-day Balanced Rock courses.
Aspiring and seasoned teachers, all yoga practitioners, and outdoor enthusiasts new to yoga are welcome. This course is perfect for those simply wanting to deepen their personal yoga study, continue their education as a yoga instructor, or seek a new perspective on yoga from the natural world.
Each of the first five weekends will be unique as we deepen our relationship with the five elements as expressed through our yoga practice, in our bodies, and by the planet that sustains us. In March, we will really bring this home in an intensive focused on Ayurveda and balance in daily life. In April, we will use techniques from Joanna Macy’s The Work that Reconnects and more to honor pain we may feel for the suffering in our world.
In May, we will grow in our ability to offer students adjustments and support. To complete the cycle, in June, we will venture together into Yosemite’s wilderness and walk our path of WildYoga together.
We encourage you to participate in all modules; however it is possible to attend stand-alone weekends. Please note that accomodation is not included in tuition price. Class sizes will be small with abundant instructor attention available for each student.
Participants will leave the WildYoga 300-hr Trainings with a strong take-home asana practice, meditation and pranayama techniques, an understanding of the major philosophies of yoga and a solid, fun-loving yoga kula (community).
