White Mountain Yoga Festival
Celebrate Summer Solstice and the 4th International Day of Yoga June 21st and 22nd. There will be over 15 unique fun yoga, chanting and wellness classes to choose from. The festival begins Friday afternoon till evening and all day Saturday. There are classes for all levels and interests. They will be held at our outdoor registration and yoga hub, In Bloom Nursery (IBN) and at the 2 yoga studios in Pinetop/Lakeside (Yoga Caliente (YC), Open Spaces Yoga Ctr (OSYC). Friday 1 pm registration opens at In Bloom. At 3 pm we launch the festival with Reggae Flow Yoga and other unique yoga experiences to enjoy along with an informal Meet & Greet. At 6 pm mellow out with a Summer Solstice Kirtan (at OSYC) and at 7 pm join in the "108 Sun Salutation Celebration" under the In Bloom tent in the warm summer night.
Following that there will be dancing under the stars to a live local Reggae band, Planting Seedz, until 10 pm. Saturday starting at 8 am the classes will be held simultaneously in the 3 venues in Pinetop/Lakeside. Class descriptions. times and locations are below. Select the ones you want to attend. Then once you're ready to pay, you'll register for your class choices by checking the ones you want. (Pre-registration is available online at EVENTBRITE) REGGAE FLOW - 3-4:30 pm; IBN; Feel the "One Love" vibes with lilting Reggae music in this gentle vinyasa flow for all levels, with Whitney Giokaris, Instructor INFORMAL MEET & GREET 4:30-6:30 pm under the tent at In Bloom Nursery; bring your mat for some uniqe yoga experiences while you mingle and enjoy this Solstice afternoon. SUMMER SOLSTICE KIRTAN - 6:00 - 6:30 pm; OSYC; Join Maral and friends for a soulful experience of call and response chanting, aka Kirtan. Chanting the names of the various manifestations of the divine reflected in ourselves. The use of sound and repetition creates a meditative and joyful state. You don’t need to be a singer, just come with an open heart and an open mind; Maral Salerno, Instructor SUN SALUTATION CELEBRATION - 7:00 - 8:00 pm; IBN; Celebration of Solstice and International Yoga Day we join hearts, minds, breath and spirits in 108 Sun Salutations. For all Levels; various instructors DANCE UNDER the STARS - 8 - 10 pm following the Sun Salutation Celebration at IBN; come dance under the tent with Planting Seedz, a local White Mountain Reggae Band. Family members or friends may purchase tickets for concert at registration. SATURDAY - APRIL 22nd 8:00 - 9:30 am (see location in parentheses) COUNTRY FLOW WITH MO (IBN) Kick up your heels, come flow with Mo to the sweet sounds of country. In this flow/vinyasa practice the asanas mindfully so they become a moving meditation. Transform your experience from mere stretching into awareness. Experience deep, supported stretching and traction; strengthen where you don't know you sink; easily invert in yoga poses that usually challenge you; build confidence by letting go; open your heart with high-flying backbends. All Levels, even beginners who want to fly. Max 11; Lauren Barnert-Hosie, Instructor 11:30 am - 12:30 pm (see location in parentheses) GUT HEALTH (OSYC) Learn what can trigger its downfall, and how to naturally and effectively rebuild your gut to peak performance at any age. FIND YOUR "ZEN" WITH YIN - (YC) Yin yoga offers a much deeper access into the body. Traditional yoga postures mainly practiced on the floor, are held from 1-5 minutes, working the connective tissues of the body (tendons, fascia, ligaments). Props are used to allow the mind to become passive bringing a more meditative approach to yoga. All Levels/ beginners welcome. Maintaining a healthy weight is unique to each person and understanding the many contributors to weight imbalance is crucial to optimal health. Remember being underweight, overweight, or unable to maintain a healthy weight are all unhealthy. We’ll take a look at the role of hormones, the gut, pathogens, a poor diet, stress, chemicals/toxins, and lifestyle all have on weight imbalance. We will then go through behaviors and strategies you can implement for getting your weight into balance. All Welcome.
