White Ally Toolkit Training with Dr. David Campt

Dr. David Campt is a nationally renowned speaker, author, and theorist who has collaborated with multiple groups to create and promote the White Ally Toolkit, a dialogue-based training program designed to help antiracist white allies have more effective conversations with racism skeptics in their lives. The underlying philosophy is that racism skeptics should be empathetically listened to, and that this should be the work of white allies. There are two sessions available. The morning is a workshop on how to effectively discuss race with family and friends. Our afternoon seminar will go deeper in building the tools and skills we need to become effective change agents across our communities. There are three ticket prices available for each event. All who are able are suggested to purchase the $35 ticket to help cover travel and lodging expenses for Dr.

Campt. If you cannot afford the $35 ticket, you may purchase the Income Restricted $20 ticket. Anyone who can purchase the $50 ticket to provide a supplementary donation will be greatly appreciated. Discount prices for both events are available. The proceeds will be split between Dr. Campt and SLC SURJ, who will disperse their portion among the many reparation opportunities you see on our page. For any concerns or questions regarding pricing or event details, please contact the event organizers at surjslc@gmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Morning Session (9:00am-12:00pm): Conversations and Empathetic Listening w/ Racism Skeptics --- This session will address how to have conversations about race and current events with people in your life who may be skeptical of the impact of racism on the lives of people of color today.

2. Afternoon Session (1:30pm-4:30pm): Community Coalitions ---- This session will address ways of creating community-wide change outside of interpersonal relationships. If you are interested in learning more about finding, joining, and building coaltions within and amongst our various communities. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All collected funds will be split between Dr. Campt (75%) and the SURJ Education Fund (25%). https://www.whiteallytoolkit.com/

Whether you can come to the workshop on April 14 or not, this book event will be both fun and stimulating. No obligation....though allies will likely find the book compelling.
