Understanding Teletherapy and Tech in Private Practice - Western Slope

Technology has made it easier than ever for people who are miles apart to communicate with each other. National companies are moving aggressively to capitalize on the prevalence of these technologies to facilitate access between helping professionals and the people they are treating, from doctors and nurses, to mental health professionals. As one of the most highly regulated states in the country regarding the mental health profession, Colorado has some nuances and restrictions regarding the use of technological modalities in the therapeutic context. Join us for an in-depth exploration of Teletherapy, including: DORA’s view on Teletherapy In-depth analysis of DORA’s new and updated Teletherapy policy (just posted on DORA’s website) Recommendations for utilizing Teletherapy while still reducing your liability risk After addressing Teletherapy specifically, we will expand our focus to technology in general.

For therapists in a private practice setting, there are a variety of tools and technology platforms available that will make your practice more streamlined. These platforms also make you more convenient and attractive for potential clients, increasing your ability to retain them for longer periods of time. This training will give you the information you need to evaluate and choose tech platforms and tools that will help you and your practice. We will survey the major cloud-based records-management tools currently available on the market, examine different payment options for credit card processing, and highlight potential HIPAA and confidentiality concerns. Attendance at this class counts for two and a half (2.5) hours of continuing education credit (CEUs/PDHs).
We are proud to partner with Highland Behavioral Health System for this event. Highlands Behavioral is an 86-bed freestanding behavioral health hospital offering psychiatric care for adults and adolescents ages 11 and up. Their aim is to help people heal mentally and emotionally by offering a broad continuum of evidence-based programs with inpatient and outpatient services tailored to each patient’s needs..
