UM Day of Giving

Who helped you along the way? The professor that took notice and encouraged you, The student organization that made you feel at home, The librarian who showed you how to conduct research, or The donor who endowed a scholarship giving you the opportunity to attend college. As you think back to your college years and to those who inspired and helped you along the way, we ask that you help UM sustain the “Montevallo experience” for current and future students. On Thursday, Oct. 12, the University of Montevallo will celebrate the 121st Founders’ Day with the theme: Find an inspiration, then become one. Before and after the Founders’ Day convocation, the Office of Advancement will have a tent set up on Main Quad to kickoff UM’s first official Day of Giving.

A gift, regardless of size, to the general fund can provide a student the community support and help they need to be successful. Donations collected for this fund are set aside for the students who need it the most. Whether a student experiences a sudden loss of property, a scholarship need or other unforeseen circumstance that threatens their education here at UM, the general fund is meant to help them bounce back. All forms of payment will be accepted. We’re not only calling on the generosity of our UM alumni, faculty and staff but our current student body as well. The booth will welcome both monetary and non-perishable food donations from students. As members of the UM family, we value the inclusive, generous learning environment, which encourages all those who walk on its brick streets to become the best versions of themselves.
As we reflect on a strong 120 plus years as an institution, please consider becoming an inspiration to a current student and the future generations to come. If you cannot make it to the booth for Founders' Day, visit For more information, contact the Office of Advancement at 205-665-6215.
