TWO VIRTUOSOS ON TOUR 2019: Violinist Yonatan Leviim and Pianist Dimitri Zhgenti Virtuoso Violinist Yonatan Leviim will perform with Virtuoso pianist Dimitri Zhgenti for their 2019 tour. The duo will perform Beethoven’s “Romance in F Major,” Paganini's "Moses in Egypt" Variation on One String G, plus works by Bach, Handel, Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Debussy. Zhgenti will also showcase solo piano pieces by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev and Moszkowski. Yonatan Leviim has performed as soloist and concertmaster in over 70 countries with some of the world’s major orchestras and leading chamber musicians. Throughout his successful worldwide career as concertmaster, soloist, and chamber musician, he continues to inspire his audience with his brilliant artistry, phenomenal virtuosity and technique, and versatility.

A child prodigy, he played his first concert by the age of six, performing the Vivaldi and Bach Concertos. He was laureate of the Stolyarsky Pan-Soviet Violin Competition, International Jurgis Dvarionas Competition, and the Chiva International Violin Competition. Since then, he has performed as concertmaster in some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including: Cologne Philharmonic Hall, Munich Philharmonic Hall, Düsseldorf Philharmonic Hall, Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, Germany, The Schauspielhaus- Berlin Concert Hall, National Arts Center in Ottawa, Ontario, Hong Kong Arts Centre, Fernan Gomez Art Centre, Plaza de Colon in Madrid, Spain, and the Sydney Opera House, Australia. Since 2005, he has performed in many concerts throughout Australia and the US.
He is passionate about bringing quality classical music to lesser-served music lovers. He plays a 1705 Stradivari C model violin from Cremona, Italy. Dimitri Zhgenti was born in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia. At the age of nine he began studying with Medea Javahia and later with one of the prominent professors of the Tbilisi State Conservatory, Rusudan Hodjava. In 2002 Dimitri moved to the USA and later in 2004 began studying with renowned American concert pianist and artist-teacher Joanna Hodges. Mr. Zhgenti was accepted into the Toradze Piano Studio at Indiana University, South Bend where he studied under world-renowned concert pianist Alexander Toradze and concert pianist and Senior Lecturer of Music Ketevan Badridze. There he completed both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees (2008-2014).
Starting in 2011 Dimitri began studying with American award-winning pianist and teacher Mark Westcott and has completed additional study at the SUNY New Paltz Piano Summer festival under the artistic direction of Vladimir Feltsman. In 2015 Dimitri performed an audition for maestro Salvador Brotons.
