Tim Nortley Benefit Dinner & Silent Auction!

On Aug 31st Tim, a Morenci resident, had a massive heart attack. He was flown to Toledo and learned it was severe. Tim had been living with heart failure and never knew it. He had 2 of his 3 main arteries blocked and was put on a Balloon Pump. The pump failed so they put him on an Impella Pump on Saturday. These pumps were to offload the work for the heart and give it a break. The morning of Sept 3rd he went into cardiac arrest for 30 min. They got a heart beat back and went into emergency surgery. Toledo Dr's put him on an ECMO machine which took over his heart and lungs. Sunday night he was flown on survival flight to University of Michigan. There again, they told the family he was very critical and anything could happen. Sept 7th the Dr's took him in for a 7 hour open heart surgery, and battled a bleed for 3 hours with over 30 transfusions.

His open heart surgery was to implant an LVAD (left ventricular assist device). It's a mechanical pump inserted into the heart and it works with the heart to help pump blood with less work. It does this by continuously taking blood from the left ventricle and moving it to the aorta, which then delivers oxygen-rich blood throughout the body. There is a cable cord called a driveline that comes from the pump to the outside of the body where it is hooked to a controller, the controller is ran with 2 batteries. He spent 4 weeks in ICU where he then learned he has Neuropathy. He hasn't been able to walk but is getting therapy. On October 13th he had an ICD/Pacemaker put in to help with his heart beats. He is currently in the step down unit facing the battle of trying to stand.

In order for Tim to come home their electrical service has to be updated in their home and have a back up generator installed. We are hosting a Spaghetti Dinner/Silent Auction to help cover medical expenses and house renovations. We ask you, as a community, to come together and help Tim in his time of need. Dinner $7/plate 50/50 raffle Silent Auction Contact Nicole Harding @ 419-583-9774 for donations or questions. Thanks.
