Songs & Stories of East Lawrence With Kelley Hunt & Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg
Each workshop will include writing and singing sessions focused on sense of place and people’s histories. Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg will lead writing workshops to help you locate and unearth your stories, poems, and other writing about this neighborhood and community. Kelley Hunt will lead singing and songwriting workshops to help us strengthen our collective voices and find our songs. At the Feb. 29th workshop, we'll also lead a brainstorming session to generate ideas for two songs that Kelley and Caryn will write. At the second workshop, Kelley will teach participants back-up parts on these songs. This ticket includes attending both workshops -- Feb. 29 and March 14 -- from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. All participants are committing to attend both sessions as well as the book launch concert 2-4 p.m., Sun., May 10 at the Cider Gallery.
In between the workshops and book launch, we will be in touch to help you revise any work you want to put into the anthology we're publishing and to prepare any songs or readings you plan to share at the book launch concert. We also will let you know the time and location of the optional Wild East Lawrence walk with Ken Lassman. Lunch, including vegetarian and vegan options, will be donated by the Community Mercantile.
