Spinning Babies® Workshop  This course introduces the Spinning Babies® paradigm for pregnancy comfort, labor progress and easier birth for the experienced provider.  Participants learn fresh solutions for labor pain, long and/or posterior labor, and labor dystocia. Spinning Babies presents a new perspective of the anatomy of fetal positioning and birth and applies stretch and jiggle techniques for muscles and fascia.   After this workshop you will be able to: Demonstrate fetal movement of rotation and descent through the pelvic floor in a gynecoid pelvis. Explain how uterosacral ligaments may influence fetal position. Design a pregnancy protocol (activity routine) for pregnant people to follow Differentiate a progressing from a non-progressing labor. Apply a maternal position to increase each diameter of the pelvis (inlet, mid, outlet).

This workshop is open to all professionals who serve people in their pregnancy and birth.  Specialities may include: midwives, nurses, nurse practitioners, obstetricians, family medicine doctors, childbirth educators, doulas, prenatal yoga instructors, chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists, myo-fascial release practitioners, perinatal case managers, and community health workers. It is recommended for people new to Spinning Babies, as well as those practiced in it for years.  Having a foundation of practice will greatly help in understanding these tools and how to apply them. Sign-in opens 30 minutes prior to start of workshop. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the workshop begins.    Nice to know: Host: Lunch Break:  We will take a 60 minute break mid-day.  Bring a lunch or go out with new friends.  If you are a birth professional in your final month of pregnancy you may inquire about being our class model.
Continuing Education: American College of Nurse Midwifery (ACNM) has awarded this course with 0.7 CEU credits.  Doulas may use the document of attendance to obtain contact hours. Nurse CEUs are being applied for. Babies in arms (4 months and under) are welcome. Cancellation Policy: 100% refund will be given if you need to cancel due to attending a birth.
