Returning to the helm is the team of director Ted Mitchell, music director Anthony-Alexander Torelli and choreographer Melissa Franklin. This is the third show this trio has helmed and follows up on their successful production of Jeyll & Hyde two years ago, which was nominated for nine EMACT DASH awards, including Best Musical. Ted and Tony's latest show was last year's acclaimed production of Young Frankenstein (where Melissa served as dance captain), which was also nominated for nine DASH awards and won seven, including Best Direction and Best Ensemble. About the show: The Scarlet Pimpernel is a swashbuckling action/adventure musical, based on Baroness Orczy’s famous 20th-century novel about the French Revolution and the battle for Liberty, Equality and Fraternity.
With an epic, sweeping book by Nan Knighton and a rousing and passionate score by Knighton and Frank Wildhorn, the show is a glorious window into 18th century French and British history with incredible Wildhorn music, including "Madame Guillotine," "The Riddle," "You Are My Home," and the rousing "Into the Fire." There are 2 principal female roles, 3 principal males, 8 sub-principal roles, along with a large supporting cast of various ages. All auditioners should prepare 16 bars each of a ballad and an up-beat tempo song, and should bring sheet music. Those interested in auditioning for a major role should be prepared to read a short scene from the script during callbacks. Rehearsals will take place two nights a week, typically on Monday and Thursdays, starting the week of February 26.
The performances will be the first two week in June: June 1 and June 8. We're SO excited about this production, so do yourself a favor and join us, won't ya? A splendid time is guaranteed for all. LINK TO THE MEDIA CENTER: .
