Restorative Yoga Series - May & June

This is a profound and simple class. Restorative yoga is a deeply soothing inward form of yoga where the body is placed in relaxing postures that are supported with soft bolsters, blocks and blankets while the mind is invited to slow down. Melt away physical tension and energetic knots with each gentle pose, aromatherapy, and soft music. Restorative poses include light twists, seated forward folds, and gentle backbends. . Provided: a yoga mat and all others props needed Bring: each person is welcome to bring their own mat & props, water bottle. . Benefits of Restorative Yoga include: Slowing down the pace of life Soothing the nervous system Encouraging mindfulness Cultivating heightened body awareness Deepening self awareness & introspection Strengthening acceptance & detachment Helping one feel safe & nurtured Restoring the body after injury or trauma This class is open to all genders and physical abilities.

If you need this, there is a way. . About Teacher: Lydia Atkins is an alignment & accessible based yoga teacher through Here Now Yoga taught by Rebecca Empello & Kim Drye. Lydia started practicing yoga with elders at a local gym when she was a teenager. She later traveled abroad to live in an intentional community as a caregiver for people with special needs and developed a personal practice to care for herself. This was profound. Her teaching style has developed through her experience supporting differently abled bodies.
She encourages each person to observe and connect with their unique bodies, breath and center. She is the Co-Founder of Wild Ground Alabama.
