Parent University Mini-Conference
What is a Parent University? For the Parents' Coalition it is part of our community initiative to help every parent become a full partner in their child's education. The theme for this year's session is "This Functional Family", a twist on dysfunctional family. We don't presume to know what every parent needs in order to raise strong, resilient and capable children. That's why we poll the community; asking what issues our parents and children are facing. And then we do our best to provide opportunities, free of charge, to help our community members address those issues. It is a privilege and an honor to do this work together with our community members to help raise stronger children. We have interactive and engaging sessions on communication, trauma-informed reactions, and understanding education funding issues, engaging with teachers and schools and more. Breakfast and lunch provided and limited childcare on first-come, first serve basis (infant to 10 years old). Key note speaker: Jacqui Clay, Cochise County Superintedent Session Leaders: Mary Perez --- Educator and Education Advocate, founding member of the Sierra Vista Public Education Network Dr.
Da'Mond Holt --- Bullying Prevention Specialist, founder of Justice 4 America Stephanie Thomas --- Eduation Advocate, founding member and President of the Sierra Vista Parents' Coalition.
