Absolutely EPIC day of recon riding on the Ouachita Gravel Grind course today.

The SHAM team rode the entire 62 miles and it is gorgeous. This course is FAST. Smooth gravel, ~4700 feet of elevation gain. We rode it on single speed cross bikes with 35-38 mm gravel tires. We were self supported and cruising at a leisurely, conversational pace. And we stopped regularly to take pictures, scout aid station locations, and enjoy the glorious damn day. The total ride time for us was about 5 and a half hours. Moving time was about 4:50. My friends, some days are better than others. This was one of those days.
We completed a little course recon today. We're working to provide the best event, at the best value, possible for our riders. Permitting with the USFS is in process. Here are some pics to whet your appetite.
Online registration begins November 26th at 4:15 AM, and our national forest permit caps us at 100 entries this year.

So put it on your calendar to get registered.
Please share more info as it comes in, such as, all ride distances, registration fees, and how to register.
A couple of shots on course...
