Native Voices Guest Speakers

Mike Crowe, Cherokee Friends Manager of the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, will lead an interactive presentation in the library’s Jones Meeting Room at 12:00 p.m. The Cherokee Friends are tribal members who are experts in their culture and history. Together they specialize in storytelling, oral history, historical Native American dress, and traditional Cherokee song and dance. Participants will learn about ceremonial dance, traditional medallion making, and have an introduction to the Cherokee language. This program is free of charge, but registration is required by calling 423-434-4454. Following Mr. Crowe’s presentation, at 2:00 p.m. local herbalist River Fern Bryant will speak about her personal journey of learning the healing uses of herbs and studying with Native American elders.

This presentation is free and all are welcome to attend.
