John Roberts and Debra Cowan have been presenting their eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary songs for the last five years. Audience participation is not required, but strongly encouraged and it’s immediately apparent that any reluctance to join in on choruses disappears at the sound of the first notes. A Roberts-Cowan performance is sure to bring a smile to the faces of all who attend, even after the last notes have long died away. With their eloquent voices and expert musicianship, John Roberts and Debra Cowan bring to life songs seldom heard on TV or radio these days. Drawn from both the folk tradition and the work of contemporary songwriters, many of these songs tell of the timeless joys and sorrows of human experience. They offer windows into where we’ve come from and perhaps where we’re headed.
