Opening Reception: Saturday December 16, 2017, 6 pm–9 pm Exhibition Dates: December 16–30, 2017 Modern Eden Gallery is excited to present the gallery debut solo exhibition by San Francisco artist, Monty Guy. With this new body of work, Fallen Angels, the artist expands upon an ongoing series of paintings that depict famous artists, writers, and musicians as tattooed children. These whimsical images evoke an innocent spirit and sense of wonder. The artist explains, “this series aims to honor the fallen angels, and explore guardian angels that have had influence in carving my vision of what it means to be an artist.” Monty Guy is a San Francisco-based painter and illustrator whose earliest memories are drawing in the entryway of his parents’ home in Southern California.

A true artist, he is passionate and constantly compelled to create, seeing beauty and inspiration in everything around him. His acute attention to detail conveys his dedication to creation and craftsmanship. In addition to the solo exhibition, we will present a group show, Tales of the City curated with Monty Guy. San Francisco is a city that has historically inspired creatives and artists and has been a haven for free-thinkers. The current environment of rapid development and culture shifts have changed the way we are able to live, work, and survive, particularly in the creative community. We invited artists with a connection to San Francisco to create a work inspired by The City by the Bay. Whether it’s a love story or one of more heartbreak or struggle, we wanted to hear the voices that make up the City, past and present.

Featuring: Robert Bowen, Amandalynn, Doug Rhodes, Steve Javiel, Brett Crawford, Kim Huynh, Joshua Lawyer, Ransom & Mitchell, Mary Syring, MJ Lindo, Adam Caldwell, Amy Ahlstrom, Mel Alves, Leon Loucheur, Abel Manalo, Michael Cuffe, Elizabeth Ashcroft, Gillian Keller, Alec Huxley, Matt Hunter, Max Ehrman, Spencer Davie, Dianne Hoffman & Paul Madonna. Modern Eden Gallery will open it’s doors on the evening of December 16, 2017 from 6 PM–9 PM to host a festive artist’s reception and artwork debut. Monty Guy and select group show artists will be in attendance and complimentary drinks will be served. For press inquiries or sales, please contact Gallery Director Kim Larson The exhibition will be on display through December 30, 2017 and is free and open to the public.
