Is crying acceptable in the workplace? What about all the other emotions we share as humans - frustration, disappointment, resentment, and anxiousness? We read about bringing our whole-self to the workplace, but does that include our emotions or are we expected to leave them at the (office) door? Emotions can be powerful and convey a sense of strength, however, we often feel they can be held against us and we don’t want to seem “emotional.” Join us at LMHQ to gain tools to deal with yours and your colleagues emotions at work. Hear from organizational designer Mollie West Duffy, co-author of No Hard Feelings: The Secret Power of Embracing Emotions At Work a wickedly funny interactive guide to un-repressing your emotions at work, finding constructive channels even for jealousy and anxiety, demystifying digital interactions and coworker communication styles, and ultimately allowing readers to be the same person in work and in life.

Mollie will be joined in conversation with Krys Burnette, an organizational design consultant at August Public. Participants will learn how to use their emotions as tools in the workplace, rather than inhibitors and to be vulnerable, yet still professional. This event will be helpful to those HR, people-ops, a manager, or ya know, just are a human doing your thing in the workplace. Books will be available for purchase and Mollie will be signing books following the discussion. Doors open at 8:30 AM for bagels and coffee and an opportunity for networking, and the program kicks off at 9:00 AM sharp.
