Indie Lens Pop-up Film Screening: The Providers
GPB is pleased to partner with the Mercer University School of Medicine for a free documentary film screening and panel discussion. Set against the backdrop of the physician shortage and opioid epidemic in rural America, The Providers follows three “country doctors” in New Mexico at clinics offering care to all, regardless of ability to pay. As their personal struggles at times reflect those of their patients, the providers work to reach rural Americans who would otherwise be left without healthcare. Following the film, representatives from the School of Medicine and healthcare providers will speak about healthcare in rural Georgia communities. This screening will take place in the Mercer University School of Medicine, located on the Macon Campus. The School of Medicine is building 34 on this campus map.
Visitors may park in the green/purple lot adjacent to the School of Medicine without penalty for this event. .
