MILITARY VENTURE TRIP, Pinehurst, North Carolina, March 28 - 30 Starting with the military families of North Carolina, invest in the entrepreneur community of those ready to start something that changes lives after the call of duty. Heroes who have given their life for the United States of America, while their families stand strong behind them. Even more so, military widows - men and women, face challenges in entering civilian life, but be part of their next chapter. These families are ready to start their lives again, and be entrepreneurs to create something sustainable to give hope to those around them. If you are an American Hero or military family, this experience is for you. Hear the stories and meet Mason and Bethanie. Mason is a 20 year retired Army, ranger qualified, pilot and veteran and Bethanie is a Gold Star spouse (read her story here).

The transition from military impact- to civilian life- to impact is their story and the story of many others. Tour Fort Bragg and learn more about military life, climb on helicopters, and tour an Army airfield with Apaches Tour of FORSCOM (Forces Command), the USASOC (US Army Special Operations Command) Memorial, and the ASOM (Airborne and Special Operations Museum) in Fayetteville, NC “Share Your Story” bonfire where heroes share their best, craziest stories over Syrian Coconut cake by Weedad and coffee Workshop Topics include: Resilience to Entrepreneurship, Widow to Growth, and IMPACTJUNKIE Entrepreneur Workshop Learn how IMPACTJUNKIE Heroes can travel internationally with through special deployments to countries like Guatemala, Nepal, and more Tour veteran/spouse owned businesses in Southern Pines like R.

Mason MacDonald is a retired Army veteran. He’s been deployed to several countries over the span of his 20 year career from peacekeeping missions to rebuilding infrastructure in remote locations. Widowed in his 30’s, Mason has been an advocate for Active Duty veterans, offering support, and guidance for those who suffer traumatic loss. He is a skilled carpenter, a 20 year fixed, and rotary wing pilot, and a certified weightlifting coach that volunteers with local addictions facilities to help people live healthier lifestyles. Mason is currently serving in several positions within his community to build leaders, repair and build relationships, and improve healthcare.
He is a business owner, and aims to help others reach their goals of entrepreneurship. Mason is well traveled and likes to do what he calls “go left” away from popular areas to learn about people and cultures. Bethanie MacDonald has had an eclectic career that spans almost 30 years of work in customer service and hospitality for the Walt Disney World Company, advocacy, healthcare, addiction counseling, and work with with Department of Defense in antiterrorism, crime prevention, Force Protection, Casualty Affairs, and US Army Special Forces Command Family Programs. She worked in Europe for 6 years bridging gaps with communities and governments to increase communication and understating when cultural differences were a factor. Currently, she employs those skills at home as a liaison in her community helping the disadvantaged understand their government and their resources.
Widowed in 2012, Bethanie has been an advocate and support system for widows within her community. She is an author that writes about everything from resiliency in the Harvard Summer Review to humor for PineStraw Magazine. She loves to travel with her husband Mason, and her daughter, Gwen, getting into the weeds of the world around them.
