Historic Newspapers August 8, 2019 Maureen Hanlon Come early to California Genealogical Society Library to do your research, and plan to stay for a presentation on researching using Historic Newspapers. For beginners, this class will describe why and how to find fascinating details about your ancestors' lives. Historical newspapers are particularly helpful with filling the gaps for the last decade of the 1800's. They may be the only source of an elusive maiden name. Learn about the growing number of online archives and get tips on saving images and citing them for your records. Maureen Hanlon has been doing genealogy research since 2001, joining CGS in 2008. She focuses on Irish research and attended the Ulster Historical Foundation Family History Conference in Belfast in 2015. Maureen administrates the CGS Irish Ancestor network page on Facebook. She is a former Board member. REGISTRATION INFORMATION: This course will be held at the California Genealogical Society and Library.
Pre-registration is required. CGS members and non-members enjoy free admission. Register early to confirm your seat as class size is limited. There is free street parking after 6:00. After class we will walk as a group to our cars and to the BART station..
