Gentle Yin Yoga

Gentle Yin Yoga Yin yoga is a restorative form of yoga which has been developed to counteract the stronger and more active yang yoga styles which are practiced in most studios today. In these yin yoga sessions you'll be guided through a series of 'low to the ground' postures that are held for several minutes. You may be seated, lying down or in low lunges and some props may be used to assist you. Due to the long held nature of the yin yoga poses, the ligaments, joints and bones are affected as much as the muscles, so the body has the time and ability to increase the strength, flexibility and vitality of these body parts which are so important to our well-being. While poses are held, you'll be mindfully guided through your breath and will find that by the end of the session you feel deeply relaxed and rejuvenated.

No prior yoga experience is necessary. Astrid Jirka is a certified advanced Hatha Yoga and Restorative Yoga teacher. She has been teaching since 2004 in many different venues, including wellness and fitness centers, yoga studios, and private settings. She teaches with a well-rounded focus on the physical, mental, and spiritual levels of the yoga practice in order to achieve positive health and well-being. The physical aspects include the goal of creating a balance between strength and flexibility an overall balanced and healthy lifestyle. Essential to this concept is deep awareness and control of the breath and the ability to look inward while remaining connected to the outside world. She is interested to assist people at any level who are looking to heal or enliven their bodies and lives through increased awareness and mobility. Hi everyone, I'm please to be offering some Yin Yoga sessions soon. Yin Yoga is the modern day antidote to our busy 'yang style' lives as well as the yang styles of more powerful and fast moving yoga poses and sequences that are taught in mainstream studios in the West. Yin and Yang is a concept that can be applied to any aspect of our lives, from the seasons to our diet to our personalities as well as in the worlds of yoga and the martial arts. Like most things, we seek to find a balance between opposites so that we can both see and be in the world with as much clarity as possible. So if you feel the need to add a little more Yin to your Yang and/or you're curious about Yin Yoga please begin by checking out one these classes at Rasa Spa starting in the new year.

I'm happy to answer any questions as well if you're wondering if Yin Yoga is for you.
