GDPR & CCPA workshop (hosted by Procopio and WTC San Diego)

Join World Trade Center San Diego and Procopio on February 26 for a seminar and discussion on the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). The GDPR went into effect on May 2018 and is the most important change in data privacy regulation in several decades. The regulation reshapes the way in which data is handled across multiple sectors and serves as a model for new data regulations, such as the CCPA. The CCPA took effect immediately upon Governor Brown signing the law in June 2018 though the requirements will not go into effect until Jan. 1, 2020. Much like the GDPR, the CCPA includes a broad definition of “personal information,” much broader than typical privacy-related laws normally seen in the United States.

Come and find out how GDPR and the CCPA affect your company, how you can ensure your company is GDPR compliant, and what you should know about CCPA. This session is most useful for chief information officers, compliance officers, chief marketing officers, CEOs, and COOs. Session 1 (9:00 - 10:30 AM)- Basics of GDPR and CCPA for those with very little to no prior experience. Breakfast and coffee will be provided. Session 2 (11:00 AM - 12:30 PM)- A closer examination into the considerations businesses must take to ensure they are efficiently managing their compliance programs in accordance with the law. Lunch will be provided. Attendance for the workshop is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis due to limited capacity. For more information, contact Lucas Coleman at
