Overview
This course will provide participants with an introduction to the HICS Command Staff and General Staff positions along with the utilization of the HICS forms for each position. The course includes hands-on training by utilizing the HICS Forms and Job Action Sheets and the completion of an Incident Action Plan. Learning Objectives
1. Provide overview of roles and responsibilities of the Command Section positions
a. Incident Commander
b. Liaison Officer
c. Public Information Officer
d. Safety Officer
e.
Medical/Technical Specialist
2. Provide an overview of roles and responsibilities of the General Section positions
a. Operations Section Chief
b. Planning Section Chief
c. Logistics Section Chief
d. Finance / Administration Section Chief
3. Provide an overview of the HICS Activation process
4. Provide an overview of each Job Action Sheet and appropriate HICS Forms
5. Provide hands-on, discussion-based practice scenario
Target Audience
Participants should include:
- Healthcare personnel who are likely to assume a leadership HICS position in the Hospital Command Center.
- Healthcare personnel who have primary responsibility for emergency management. - Healthcare Emergency Management Committee members or those key leaders whose departments support the Emergency Operations Plan. Recommended Prerequisites
