UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA HUNTSVILLE (UAH) 301 Sparkman Drive Wilson Hall, Room 168 Huntsville, AL 35899 Register at Having a clearly hostile or hurting couple in your office, counting on you to help them, can be a great deal of pressure. They want help and they want it now. It’s a great deal to ask of anyone. Does this ever leave you feeling overwhelmed? Many therapists did not enter the profession to do couples/marital counseling, but have found, at times it may be a necessity. Nevertheless, this has left some feeling thrown into the fray with far too little preparation.

With the goal of equipping you to feel better prepared, our "Developing your process, proficiency, and practice of couples/marital therapy" seminar will seek to cover the following: Learning Objectives Making the most of the intake session Assessments that facilitate the process Treatment modalities Treatment planning Knowing your strengths and weaknesses Options for specialization Cultural considerations Understanding and addressing your personal biases When to refer Pros and Cons of mixing couple and individual sessions Circumstances that hinder the process Addressing common, but difficult, issues couples face Concluding treatment Resources Presenter Biography: Mark Beaird, LPC, NCC, MAC, SAP, ADC, ICADC Mark is a graduate of Lee University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree.

Mark also holds a M.A. in Counseling and is licensed by the state of Alabama as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). He also holds the following certifications: Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), Master Addiction Counselor (MAC), with NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC), with the Alabama Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association (AADAA), Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (ICADC), Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), for the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Ordained Minister. Mark has been a columnist and freelance writer and has been published in various newspapers and periodicals around the country. He has also authored several books including Author of Restoring Broken Trust: A relationship's greatest challenge -- Available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Books-a-Million .

Leslie Phillips Seminars® is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs​.​ Leslie Phillips Seminars® has been approved by the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners, #0516. ​REFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICY: Refunds: If a refund is requested by the participant, a partial refund, minus a $25.00 adminstrative fee will be given within two weeks of the event. All cancellations must be in writing, thus emailed to is preferred. No refunds will be issued if received less than 2 weeks of the event. Please note if a participant fails to contact us as well as fails to appear for the seminar, no refunds will be issued, nor will attendance of another seminar be allowed.

Cancellations: If Leslie Phillips Seminars® cancels a seminar, a full refund will be given. Leslie Phillips Seminars® reserves the right to cancel any seminar due to low enrollment. Postponements: At times, postponing a seminar may be unavoidable (such as illness of a presenter, family tragedy, etc). If a seminar is postponed, all registered will have the option to attend the seminar on the newly scheduled date, or have their registration transferred to another seminar of their choice within the next 6 months. No refunds will be given. If a seminar is not attended within that 6 month period, attendance of another seminar is forfeited.
