Creating Your Personalized Career Development Plan
PRE THIS WORKSHOP IS ONLY FOR KING COUNTY EMPLOYEES Do you know how to successfully identify and manage your career growth? Do you want to gain your supervisor’s support in your development? Have you thought about the barriers and ways to address them? In this workshop will help you to: Understand how important an individual development plan is in pursuing your career interests Clarify your short and long term career goals Clearly state your current competencies, knowledge, strengths and skills Identify and target the specific development areas needed to attain your goals Identify and address barriers that stop you from moving forward Learn how to use the 70/20/10 learning model to identify development activities Learn effective tips and techniques for engaging conversations with your supervisor As part of this workshop, you will have the opportunity to choose a partner and participate in guided exercises and discussions while navigating through your career goals. By the end of this session, you will leave with a draft individual development plan to help support and guide you through your career journey.
PRE-WORKSHOP INSTRUCTIONS: Come prepared with a specific direction or career goal. This could be, but not limited to, a new or different career, a career/job advancement, or it can be what you would like to enhance, enrich or do more of in your current job/career..
