Cooking with Sohaila: A Meat Lover

In this class, Sohaila will start with an introduction to cooking with spices and will provide helpful techniques, shortcuts, and tips to cook authentic Pakistani/Indian cuisine. Students will learn how to make Aloo Gosht, a popular and staple dish in every Pakistani household. Aloo Gosht is a savory and hearty meat curry that consists of potatoes cooked with boneless lamb in a stew-like “shorba,” or gravy. Students will also learn how to make vegetarian samosas (deep fried or baked pastries) from scratch, including the preparation of the filling and the assembly of the samosas. Students will enjoy delicious appetizers during class, their main course, dessert, and can take some home, too. Note: if a substitution for lamb is needed, such as chicken or a vegetarian item, please reach out to us for accommodations.

About the Instructor Chef Sohaila is the proud owner of Sohaila's Kitchen located in the Lenexa Public Market. At Sohaila's Kitchen, you will find rich culinary infusion of Pakistani and Indian cuisine. Sohaila was raised in the beautiful city of Lahore, Pakistan, and spent most of her life in San Francisco.
