Clair de Lune - Piano Recital

Dr. Menghua Lin will host a piano recital “Clair de Lune” at Tateuchi Hall at CSMA. Her program includes works by Mozart, Chopin and Debussy. Please join us on a journey with Classical, Romantic, and Impressionist music in the evening of April's full moon. Program Piano Sonata in D major, K. 576 Wolfgang Mozart (1756 - 1791) I. Allegro II. Allegretto Suite Bergamasque Claude Debussy (1862 - 1918) I. Prélude II. Menuet III. Clair de lune IV. Passepied Piano Sonata No. 3 in B minor, Op. 58 Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849) I. Allegro maestoso II. Scherzo: Molto vivace III. Largo IV. Finale: Presto non tanto About the Performer Pianist Menghua Lin, a native of Taiwan, began her piano studies at the age of four. Winner of Pittsburgh Concert Society, Steinway Society West Pennsylvania, PTMA Piano Competition, Chautauqua Music Festival Concerto Competition and YAMAHA Piano Competition, she also holds a DMA degree in piano performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Her principal teachers include Ian Hobson, Nina Svetlanova, Hanna Li, and Pan-An Chen.  Dr. Lin has performed in Asia, Europe, and the United State of America. She appeared as a recitalist and soloist at Suolahti Music Festival (Finland), Amalfi Music and Art Festival (Italy), Music Fest Perugia (Italy), Prague International Master Classes (Czech Republic), TCU / Cliburn Piano Institute Young Artist Program (USA), and Chautauqua Music Festival (USA). In 2005, she was featured in J.S. Bach’s Keyboard Concerto in D minor, BWV 1052 with Carnegie Mellon Baroque Ensemble. In 2007, she performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto in A major,K. 488 with Perugia Fest Orchestra in Basilica of San Francesco d’Assisi, Italy. In the follow year, she returned to Italy and performed in the Young Artist Series of Amalfi Coast Music and Art Festival.
In 2009, she was invited by AACMM- Associação Amigos do Conservatório de Música da Madeira and presented a solo recital in Funchal, Portugal. In 2014, she performed Lowell Liebermann’s all three Piano Sonatas at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was invited to give a lecture at Composer’s Forums. In 2016, she was invited to give a masterclass and a recital at Eastern Illinois University Music Department, and to record a solo program for RTHK (Radio Television Hong Kong) Radio 4. Dr. Lin is currently piano faculty at Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp as well as a board member at Fortnightly Music Club. She was former piano faculty at the Pre-College Division at Carnegie Mellon University.
