Candlelight Forest Progressive Dinner Tour
Nestled in a beautiful, historic valley, Cloudland Station and Candlelight Forest is a dreamscape of 450 acres in a world of natural beauty. It is a tapestry of old canopied forests, sun-splintered meadows, and richly shaded coves, all laced together with meandering brooks, hiking trails, and walking paths. We will enjoy a delicious catered progressive dinner tour of the land, buildings, history and exquisite beauty of this property during this day We’ll begin the afternoon with a step-on bus guide who will provide a narrated history tour of the property. We’ll get off the bus at a few stops to tour a rustic rental cabin, visit the super cute little blue Plucky Peacock Farm Stand and we may even get to meet some furry animals. After our property tour, we will venture to the Mill House, Candy Shoppe and Indian Chief Cabin for an inside tour and cocktail hour.
Anyone who wants to partake in a scenic quarter-mile hike to a waterfall to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail at the observation deck will snag a ride on a wagon-ride hummer. The hummer will drive you to the edge of the woods where you will continue on foot for a medium-grade hike. This hike is not very hard but it is not on flat ground. You will walk on a dirt path with rocks, roots and uneven terrain. You may need a little assistance in one or two areas stepping over a down-tree or a rock. You will be surrounded by nature and all its beauty. Closed toe shoes are best. This short hike is a lot of fun and as long as you watch where you are walking you should be fine. Those who choose to take the waterfall hike will get to see the Mill House area when you return.Next, we all will head to the Coffee Shop House. This area of the property is where you can be a little adventurous and tour the inside of an exquisite tree house, pull yourself across the pond on a floating dock, and have a delicious appetizer while socializing on the gorgeous outdoor rock patio. Then we will head up to Candlelight Ridge to tour a charming stone cottage and Hickory Hall. You will be so impressed with this stop.Just when you think you’ve seen it all, we will gather at the Amish Celebration Barn for our main course, live entertainment, dancing and drinks. The band ‘Over Easy’ will provide classic live entertainment while we indulge in the many flavors of Chef Calli’s brick oven pizza pies and salad buffet. We are not talking about regular “Big Box” pizza. They make their mozzarella fresh from whole milk and their house made pesto is out of this world. You are in for a treat. Lastly, we will stroll across the lovely lawn for a quick tour of Peacock Hall to end our evening with dessert and coffee. The cool temps of October will be so nice to enjoy outside. We will meet at 12:45pm at Dunham's in Scottsboro, AL and return around 9pm. We might add a Fort Payne stop if we get several requests.$115 – Individual price includes round trip transportation by charter bus with bathroom onboard.
