BraveMaker Film Screening + Panel on Mental health + Suicide Prevention

BraveMaker exists to elevate brave stories for diversity + inclusion. Thanks to our sponsor CALTRAIN, our desire is to bring awareness, hope and resources in order to persevere through life's stresses, pressures and anxieties. This event is especially in honor of the students living in Silicon Valley so we are making this event free for any student in middle school, high school or college. Doors of the Fox Theatre in Redwood City will open at 6pm with free refreshments + appetizers + live music. The film event will start at 7pm with a special musical performance by Becky Alex followed immediately by the screening. We encourage parents, teachers and those working with students to attend. The film and discussion is recommended for students 12 years old and up. Meet filmmakers Kathryn Basiji + Liza Meak who will share about their film and the nature of mental health on students in the Bay Area and how parents, teachers, mental health professionals can care for students who face anxiety and depression.

Kathryn and Liza will be joined by a mental health professional and a local parent who lost her son to death by suicide for an interactive panel discussion. The content of this film and panel discussion is sensitive due to the nature of conversations on mental health suicide . BraveMaker's mission is to elevate brave voices for diversity and inclusion.
