ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)

Welcome – and thank you for your interest in this event.  The Reach UR Life (RUL) program at the Native Americans for Community Action, Inc. (NACA) is offering a free series of suicide alertness and prevention trainings throughout 2019.  One of these trainings is ASIST, a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid.  ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. Learning Goals and Objectives - ASIST participants learn to: Understand the ways that personal and societal attitudes affect views on suicide and interventions Provide guidance and suicide first aid to a person at risk in ways that meet their individual safety needs Identify the key elements of an effective suicide safety plan and the actions required to implement it Appreciate the value of improving and integrating suicide prevention resources in the community at large Recognize other important aspects of suicide prevention including life-promotion and self-care Participants will need to attend the 2 full days in order to receive a completion certificate.

RSVP is required.  Seating is limited to 14 participants. As with all suicide prevention trainings, the RUL program requires at least 8 participants to host the training.  If there are less than 8 participants, then NACA reserves the right to cancel the training.
