April 3-day cob workshop
This three-day educational workshop will provide information on building with cob (a clay, sand, and straw mixture similar to adobe but much stronger). Topics covered will include drainage, soil selection, mixing the cob, foundations, wall application, framing for windows and doors, and more. Houses made of cob can last hundreds of years. Many homes built in England during the 1500's are still standing and inhabited to this day. If one is looking for a tornado, earthquake, and fire resistant home, then cob is a great choice. Not only is cob an excellent sustainable choice, it is versatile as the walls are free form. Go with your own design. Check-in: Friday Noon to 1PM Friday: 1PM to 6PM Saturday: 9AM to 5PM.
