All Our Relations - A Native American Cultural Competency Training Series

"The ‘All Our Relations’ Project is an initiative to Improve Relations between Native American and Non-Native American Communities and to Contribute to the Health and Well-being of the Native American Community and Friends". This training is designed to provide medical, mental health, and substance abuse providers with a better understanding of the historical trauma experienced by the Native American People and the long term effects on the health and wellness of the community, many of which are seldom-recognized. Participants will leave the training with new skills to better understand and effectively work with our local indigenous population. Physicians will receive 4 hrs CME for attendance, Certified Prevention Providers (CPP) and Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselors (CASAC) will receive 4 hrs renewal credits.

The Training will consist of: - Basic Overview of Native Culture & Communities - Expanding Trauma-Informed Care to Understanding Historical Trauma, including the documentary, “Unseen Tears:  The Impact  of Native American Residential Boarding Schools in Western New York” - NACS’ Emerging Strategies to Promote Enhanced Health and Wellbeing - Strategies to Engage with Native People ACCREDITATION The University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.CERTIFICATION The University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences designates this live activity for a maximum of 4.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM.
